Tory Burch FW'19

Tory Burch’s Fall/Winter ‘19 collection is inspired by the short lived liberal arts school of Black Mountain College (1933-1957), known for its unorthodox approach to educating and strong emphasis on curving modern art in America. Burch’s ready-to-wear line took an eccentric modern twist on traditional collegiate dressing featuring eye catching mix and match prints, extravagant ruffles, and playful textures and fabrics.

There is no denying that Tory Burch is one of the best in her game: accessories. The deconstructed bags, patchwork leather knee-high boots and gold heels and glass-cut jewelry showcased surely did not disappoint! However, I was most drawn to the myriad of coats and jackets that made their way down the Tory Burch runway—wool coats with brushed-gold hardware as well as single-breasted styles that vaguely mimicked geodesic designs, a plaid trench with tan leather piping, and a black fur-lined leather jacket (my favorite). Looking forward to bundling up in Burch this this Winter!

KATE SPADE FW’19

I was so thrilled to be able to kick off NYFW FW’19 at Kate Spade and witness her legacy live on through Nicola Glass’s creative direction. This one hit a little closer to home than most as Kate is not only another KC native, but a fellow St. Teresa’s Academy sister as well (my high school Alma Mater, loved STA!).

FiDi’s Cipriani on Broadway was transformed into a retro time machine completed with lilac purple carpet. The collection featured a glamorous 70’s inspired set of bags with outfits to match. Staying true to Kate Spade’s roots, we saw a continuous use of prints! Flirty pinks, bold blues, mustard yellows, jade greens and lilac purples made up a dreamy color palette of various leopard patterns, snakeskin accents and pleated details.

Standout models such as Grace Elizabeth, Faith Lynch and Sasha Pivavorova were featured on this runway. Kate Spade Spring campaign “it girls,” Kiki Layne, Julia Garner and Sadie Sink (from my favorite Netflix series, “Stranger Things”) were in attendance sitting front row (seated right in front of me—cue the fangirling!).

Here’s an inside look from behind the scenes to on the runway!
